Goal

Survive 12 months and achieve 50 points to earn the Celestial Dragon's favor through wise management of your resources, palaces, and specialists.

How to Play

1. Start by choosing one of three specialists to assist you:
   • Nóng (农) - Farmer: Doubles rice harvest and protects against Drought
   • Shāng (商) - Merchant: Doubles money earned and protects against Economic Crisis
   • Gōng (工) - Builder: Reduces palace cost by 2 and protects against Building Collapse
2. Each month, you can take TWO actions:
   • Build Palace (建宫)
     • First three palaces: 5 Money each
     • Fourth palace: 6 Money
     • Fifth and later palaces: 7 Money
     • Builder specialist reduces cost by 2
   • Harvest Rice (收获) - gain 3 Rice
   • Earn Money (赚钱) - gain 3 Money
   • Hire Specialist (聘用) - Cost increases with time:
     • Months 1-4: 3 Money
     • Months 5-8: 4 Money
     • Months 9-12: 5 Money
3. After your actions, the month's event occurs:
   • Events can drain resources or destroy palaces
   • Specialists can protect against specific events
   • Prosperity (富荣) occurs in months 1 and 7
   • All other events appear twice during the year
4. Palace Maintenance:
   • Each palace with a specialist requires 1 rice per month
   • If you cannot feed your specialists, they will leave
   • Empty palaces do not require maintenance

Specialists (专家)

• Nóng (农) - Farmer: Doubles rice harvest and protects against Drought
• Shāng (商) - Merchant: Doubles money earned and protects against Economic Crisis
• Gōng (工) - Builder: Reduces palace cost by 2 and protects against Building Collapse
• Shī (史) - Historian: Triples the value of their palace at the end of the game
• Rú (儒) - Scholar: Increases adjacent specialists' bonus to triple

Events (事件)

• Hàn (旱) - Drought: Lose half of rice (rounded up) unless you have a Farmer
• Jīhuì (急荒) - Economic Crisis: Lose half of money (rounded up) unless you have a Merchant
• Méng Gǔ (蒙古) - Mongol Invasion: Lose newest palace unless you have a Warrior
• Tādǎo (塌倒) - Building Collapse: Random palace is destroyed unless you have a Builder
• Yì (疫) - Plague: Lose all specialists unless you have a Historian
• Fùróng (富荣) - Prosperity: First occurrence brings preparation rather than bounty, second occurrence grants 4 of each resource

Scoring (得分)

• Surviving Palaces: 3 points each
• Surviving Specialists: 4 points each
• Resources: (rice + money) ÷ 2 points
• Special Bonuses:
  • Historian: +1 point per specialist and palace
  • Five Palace Set: +10 points
  • 3+ Different Specialists: +8 points
• Try to get the highest score possible while surviving all 12 months!
